Here I Go Again

After most of the country weathered historic cold and snow, it seems like the promises of warmth on which we’ve all been hanging might finally be coming true. Judging by the soil tests in my inbox, I see a number of you have been preparing for this moment. Foliar-Pak’s Soil Solver is an excellent partnership with AgSource Laboratories, and is a tool that helps superintendents to know what’s going on in the soil—which is critical when it comes to creating soil and foliar nutritional programs. And if you haven’t taken soil samples, what are you waiting for?

And what about the quality of your turf? Did you finish strong last season? 2020 brought a mixed bag, but for many, it meant an increase in foot traffic on the golf course. While on one hand that’s a great thing; on the other it meant that the turf was under a great deal of stress. Change is scary, and so many continue to go down the only road they’ve ever known. But what happens if that road isn’t equipped to deal with the traffic and challenges looming for 2021? No one says entire programs should be scrapped, but some of Foliar-Pak’s additives like CSi, Foundation Forty, Gold Standard 45, Armament, and other technologies can really help. Foliar-Pak is committed to searching for answers. While at times it feels like we never seem to find what we’re looking for, breakthroughs do happen. We’ll be conducting research on our newest amino-acid mineral chelates this spring and summer to evaluate their performance in the field. We’re excited about the possibilities in terms of their metabolic impacts on the turf, as well as for the overall solubility and mobility in the vascular system.

As I like to say, each season is an opportunity to learn something new. It’s your opportunity to trial something, read something, and ask questions. Searching for answers, and taking the right partners will help you find what you’re looking for. Now is a great time to look around, and see who’s on your team. Do your distributor and manufacturer representatives add value beyond their products? Can you count on them when the chips are down? Early mornings and late nights make for an isolating existence at times. Having the right people on your team can make that walk along your street of dreams a bit less lonely.
