Behind the Science with Armament Concentrate and Microsync

“With Microsync and Armament Concentrate, grass continues to green up and hold its color into the season.” – Dave Woehler, Woehler Landscaping

Dave’s comments are typical of what users experience when they include Microsync and Armament Concentrate in lawn fertilizer programs. Why? Because they work to deliver a better balance of nutrition to your turf. One of the first things that we learned in Turfgrass 101 is that plants must have access to 17 essential nutrients to grow and function properly. Carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen are basic nutrients, so we don’t need to think about feeding them to the plant. However, we must consider the availability of the other 14 essential nutrients. More often than not, we need to make additional applications of at least some of these nutrients to ensure optimal plant health.

With limitations of any one of these nutrients, plants will be negatively affected in ways ranging from poor growth, color, rooting, disease tolerance, etc… For many years, lawn care operators (LCOs) have relied too heavily on nitrogen as the primary nutrient for providing color and health. This results in essentially ignoring the total balance of nutrients in the soil. By providing complete nutrition to the plant, we can ensure healthier, happier turf that maintains better color and controlled growth. With complete, balanced nutrition, we can also conservatively limit nitrogen inputs, which helps with controlled growth and disease pressures. It is impossible for LCOs to monitor and evaluate all their properties using soil test procedures, so they can prescribe specific nutrient cocktails for each individual property. The next best thing is to use a fertility program that is widely encompassing of most nutrients while being affordable. Foliar-Pak helps you accomplish this by adding two products developed specifically for lawn care Microsync and Armament Concentrate to lawn fertilizer programs. It is a great way to compensate for most nutrient imbalances and deficiencies.

The formulation science behind Microsync is the key to its outstanding performance in lawn care. Microsync delivers a nice complement of micronutrients. These nutrients are 100% chelated for better short-term and long-term availability. The copper (Cu), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), and zinc (Zn) in Microsync remain available in the soil much longer than sulfate formulations in most competitive micronutrient formulations. With better availability of these nutrients, plants build more proteins, enzymes, and photosynthesize more effectively. This means a lot to the plant in terms of better health, color, and disease tolerance! The superior chelation is the reason we see a residual of great color long after the application of Microsync.

The key to Armament technology is its ability to impact soil chemistry in difficult soils. Armament Concentrate delivers long-chain carbon to the soil. Simply put, it increases the availability of many nutrients in our soils. We have to overcome many nutrient deficiencies in residential and commercial lawns. One of the main problems being is the tie-up of nutrients by hostile forces in the soil. High pH, high phosphorus, high bicarbonates, low pH, and clay particles are some of the forces that render nutrients unavailable for root uptake. Armament technology delivers long-chain carbon structures with an abundance of negative charge associated. To put it simply, Armament provides zones of concentrated soluble nutrient activity instead of allowing soil nutrients to remain precipitated and tied up by these hostile forces. Armament will free up nutrients allowing the plant to gain access to a better balance of nutrition. When turf gains better access to a full complement of nutrients, we can rely less on nitrogen for color response.

Through the use of a program including, Armament Concentrate, Microsync and the judicious use of nitrogen, turf will grow at a more controlled rate and exhibit healthier qualities including better color, root growth, stress tolerance, insect tolerance, and disease tolerance. These are some of the reasons Armament Concentrate and Microsync provide great, long-lasting color.
