Foundation Forty can be used at higher rates, specifically for recovery. The normal rates of Foundation Forty we recommend in a program are half to one and a half ounces, but you don’t need to be afraid in recovery scenarios to bump up those rates at times of added stress.
Here, we have a scenario in Michigan in July. The photo below shows PGR damage on Poa. The white lines on the photo define the bentgrass and Poa, and the orange circle shows where some dinged-up Poa resides.
The superintendent went out with a rate of two ounces per thousand of Foundation Forty by itself. This photo shows the recovery of the Poa four days after the treatment of Foundation Forty at two ounces per thousand (the higher rate). Foundation Forty channels energy where and when the plant needs to battle stress and recover effectively.
Here’s another scenario. The bentgrass greens pictured had gone through a nasty stretch of hot, wet weather, and a few greens in shaded areas started melting out. When these pictures were taken in August, as you can see, it wasn’t looking good.
The next day after the photos were taken, the rep had the Superindentent spray a four-ounce (4oz/1000) rate of Foundation Forty as a standalone spray. Four days after the application, the sales rep sent the last photo. What a remarkable turnaround.
